Friday News Roundup
October 5th, 2007 by JonNewsweek Gaggle’s Holly Bailey proves that she can do long division. Memo to Holly: Its called a start-up organization. Anyone who has ever taken even an undergraduate marketing class understands the need to create brand awareness. That costs money. Mitt knows he has to define himself to the electorate or Hillary/DNC crew will do it for him. Thanks for the math work though. End Memo.Â
And just what is Mitt buying with that cash Ms. Bailey was talking about? Well, here’s his latest ad. Want your own copy? Download it here.Â
RCP’s Jay Cost gives his take on Novak’s column of yesterday and makes some valid points. The JFK’esque speech is laden with many potholes and not too much reward even in the best circumstance. I’ll have more to say on this later.Â
The Wall Street Journal’s Mary Jacoby goes beyond long division and delves into the details of Mitt’s ad spending. The included data chart is actually pretty cool – the WSJ number crunchers do good work.Â
The Boston Globe’s Michael Kranish reports on Mitt’s overtures to “disenchanted†evangelicals. This comes in the wake of James Dobson’s declaration thatÂ
If neither of the two major political parties nominates an individual who pledges himself or herself to the sanctity of human life, we will join others in voting for a minor-party candidate.Â
Dobson’s misguided declaration may provide an opening for Mitt which he can and should exploit. Having said that, let me make one thing perfectly clear: Losing a presidential election doesn’t accomplish anything. Losing is exactly what would happen if Dobson’s counsel was to be heeded. As is pretty obvious by the slant of this blog, I’m fully supportive of Mitt in the 2008 Race for the Oval. However, if he doesn’t end up with the nomination, I will fully support the Republican nominee – even if that man should end up being Rudy. Why would I do this? Because the thought of Hillary in the big chair scares the hell out of me. Enough said.Â
The Washington Post’s Trail Blogger Dan Balz sees a September slide for Mitt. Well, September is over. Moving on now.Â
